Item is okay but could be built better Pretty expensive for what it is Must use ties to stop noise
has its problems...,

we put this after our second row of seating in our saturn outlook, with the thrid row permanently down for the dogs in the back. we were trying to keep the baby separated from the pooches. it rattles rather loudly, even after several attempts to make sure it was secure. that does not bother me as much (because it's a pretty steady rattle and often seems to be a noise-maker/soother for our little one) as much as how it slips out of place all the time. When the dogs lean against it, which they often do as they are being gently thrown around the back as we drive, it pushes the bottom two legs outward and the whole thing falls out of place. usually when we ride with the dogs and baby, we make sure someone is sitting in the backseat with the baby to keep this from totally falling over once the feet have slipped from the dogs leaning on it. when it falls, it leans toward the back, not over the second row where the baby is. it's fine for short car rides and long ones where the baby is not in the car, but otherwise, a little annoying to have to manually replace it, and listen to the rattles all the time.
Great dog barrier...with a little tweaking needed,

I read all the reviews before purchasing this product. I'd like to give you my impression of the item....
We've got a Ford Escape and this fits perfectly in the back of the car to stop our black lab from climbing over the back seat and also keeps him from chewing on my seatbelts in the back (he ruined both the passenger side and driver side shoulder harnesses on the back seatbelts before we bought this).
However....when we first installed it, we put it perfectly vertical and that narrowed the space in the back cargo area due to the back seats being at an angle. When it was vertical, it also rattled like one of the other reviewers commented about. So, we changed it to be angled with the back seat and now our dog has more room to lie down and also it no longer rattles. :)
It did get loose once when we were driving down a dirt road and it fell on our dog. We realized even though we thought the barrier was in nice and tight, we had to tighten it even more.
Lastly, the biggest problem is that some of the corners on the barrier are sharp...VERY sharp. Even the lock nuts and butterfly screws have sharp edges. This was obvious once our dog cut his nose on one and bled all over the car. We rectified that by using a grinder to smooth the edges and we glued some rubber on the ends just to ensure they were safe.
All in all, great product for the price. Just wish they'd ensure the edges weren't sharp as this is to be used for a living animal that can hurt itself.
Good,

It did the job, unexpensive and my dog was confortable. They shake a little and definetely needs more rubber to silence the mesh.
Better be a handy man,

I bought this based on reviews here. If as they say this is one of the better ones I'd hate to see the rest. It took me almost two hours to get it to work in my Subaru Forester once I had it assembled. Because I wanted to use it with the back seats in the down position I first had to make a platform so I could set it up as the screws that held it in place wouldn't reach to the floor. It has edges that can tear into your roof so I had to do some taping. Once in it rattled badly when driving so I had to put foam in several places to minimize the noise. It's a poor design IMO. It works now but I should have just made something myself. I wouldn't buy it again.
