Great rack,

I bought this bike for my 2 mountain bikes and it has exceeded my expectations. It is sturdy and mounting the bikes takes seconds. I have owned strap down racks in the past, and I got tired of strapping down the bikes and either removing the tires or bungee cording them prevent spinning while driving. The Swagman prevents all of that. I also like how it folds down to allow my Rav 4 door to open. It shipped quickly with no issues.

I bought this bike rack for my fiance for Christmas and had to research and make a decision without his input. I was nervous I would choose the wrong thing but he seems to really love this one. At first he was a little wary of the fact that the bike's wheels rest on the bottom of the rack, but then after the first use he realized it was helpful because it keeps them from spinning while driving. It folds up to be very small and fits easily in a closet when not in use. He is very happy with this rack!

This bike rack was really easy to assemble - give yourself 20-30 minutes. Looks and feels very solid and it folds up when not in use. Really, I feel very confident carrying both my Santa Cruz Blur and Merckx CHM on it.

This rack is just what I needed. It is solid, easy to put together, and comes with an adapter so that it can fit on my Ford Escape or on our motor home. It just takes one simple locking cable to secure the rack and both bicycles. I am very pleased.

I've been using my Swagman XC rack for a month, and already I find myself wondering how much longer it will last. Here's the upside:
1. Excellent design
2. Easy assemble
3. Easy installation on my 2-inch hitch receiver
4. Simple to use and adjust for 2 rather unconventional frames (one women's, one child's).
5. Not only does the upright bar fold DOWN, the arms fold UP for storage. Nice.
Here are the cons:
1. Right out of the box, two of the wheel rests were defective. I called the manufacturer, who promised immediate replacement but didn't deliver. Amazon was great and when I reported the defect shipped me a new rack right away.
2. After three weeks of use, I'm already beginning to notice the beginning of rusty spots on the center bar.
3. The mechanism that allows adjustment of the padded loops has begun to stick already, and the red rubber padding on the releases tends to fall off. I'll need to glue it or it'll be gone soon.
I bought this on the strength of 4.5 stars, and I have to say, I don't think the quality warrants it. If you're just using it occasionally, going short distances on paved roads, this might be the rack for you. If you place more demands on your rack, you might want to keep shopping. Let me know what you find; I hope not, but I fear I may be in the market for a rack sooner than I'd like.
